This was an existing city center that had become dilapidated. The cities intention was to demonstrate that enhancements could be made to reestablish businesses. We performed the following: Demolish existing city block from business doorsteps to the adjacent railroad tracks. Maintain public access to businesses; coordinate with city on removal of abandon gas station, and several other structures. Remove and replace curb, gutter, sidewalks, domestic, fire services, fire hydrants, street lighting, abandon overhead electrical, install new underground electrical Install new underground retention basins, pave stone pathways, concrete walls, benches, trees, decorative iron fencing, earthwork, aggregate base, paving, striping. Issues encountered: landscape subcontractor walked off, coordination with business owners, coordination with railroad traffic.
