Building 1219: PHASE 1 – Secured site by placing approximately 60 LF of temporary fencing. Because this site is not within a travelled road area, no traffic control is anticipated other than fencing to protect the work area. PHASE 2 – Utilizing a concrete breaker mounted to Site Work Solutions Backhoe, our in-house crew demolished the top portion of the existing drain inlet adjacent to Building 1219. PHASE 3 – SWS crew cleaned up the demolished concrete/rebar debris and remove from the site. PHASE 4 – SWS crew utilized a rotary hammer drill to drill and bond #4 rebar dowels, 10” in length at 12” spacing along the perimeter of the exposed drain inlet walls. PHASE 5 – SWS carpenter crew installed wood formwork to support the new drain inlet top. PHASE 6 – SWS rebar crew installed reinforcing bars in accordance with CDOT requirements for Type R Inlets. The rebar crew also installed and supported embedded steel accessories, including the cast iron ring for the new Neenah Beehive Grate and new inlet channel. PHASE 7 – SWS crew placed concrete (CDOT Class B) for the new inlet top (8” Thick). PHASE 8 - Once the concrete cured properly (to approximately 75% of the designed compressive strength in approximately 5-7 days), SWS crew stripped the formwork and performed a final cleanup of the work area.
Specker Avenue: North and Southbound lanes. PHASE 1 – Secured site by placing approximately 120 LF of temporary fencing. PHASE 2 – Prior to starting demolition work, traffic control was placed in accordance with the approved traffic control plan, and in accordance with the approved outage request. PHASE 3 – SWS crew sawcut and demolished existing curb and gutter adjacent to the two existing inlets to be removed (approximately 28LF per inlet). PHASE 4 – SWS crew demolished the existing drainage structures on the Northbound side of Specker Avenue. PHASE 5 – SWS carpenter crew installed wood formwork to support the new drain inlets. PHASE 6 – SWS rebar crew installed reinforcing bars in accordance with CDOT requirements for Type R Inlets. PHASE 7 – SWS crew placed concrete (CDOT Class B) for the new inlet. PHASE 8 – Asphalt patching took place once the curb/gutter and inlet concrete was allowed to cure for an appropriate amount of time. Asphalt patching consisted of sawcutting and milling the existing asphalt, scarification and compaction of existing base course, applying tack coat to all existing surfaces, followed by the actual placement of compacted hot mix asphalt.
