The scope of work for this project included the repair of existing cracks and partial-depth concrete spalls on the exterior walls and roof decks of three (3) communication shelters, along with the application of protective coatings and sealants to repaired and adjacent surfaces.
Site Work Solutions conducted a comprehensive survey of each communication shelter, identifying and marking all cracks and spalled areas requiring repair. Each condition was documented based on size, depth, and location in relation to flashings, penetrations, and drainage paths.
At identified spall locations, all loose, deteriorated, and unsound concrete was removed by mechanical means until sound, structurally sound material was exposed. The perimeter of each spall was then saw-cut to establish clean, defined edges and eliminate feathered edges.
Existing cracks were routed as necessary to create clean, mechanically sound surfaces suitable for epoxy penetration and repair. Prior to repair, all crack and spall surfaces were thoroughly prepared by sandblasting to remove dust, laitance, loose particles, oil, grease, and other foreign materials, ensuring a clean and properly prepared substrate for subsequent repair materials, protective coatings, and sealants.
