This project was an environmentally challenging project. This project included: Erosion repairs to access roads and structure pads. Excavation and site grading, compacted fill and provide stone riprap erosion protection. The purpose of this project was to provide erosion protection for key structures for the Department of Energy. The project was located approximately 2.2 miles northwest of Mead Substation near Boulder City, Clark County. Nevada. The project required performing work in an environmentally sensitive area with limited access from the public thoroughfare. Due to Fish and Wildlife protected endangered species requirements for the Desert Tortoise, Burrowing Owls, and other migratory birds, SWS had to develop a very restrictive work schedule and monitor the habitat and the movement of the wildlife to accommodate these requirements.
