The Interior Region 8 Lower Colorado Basin encompasses portions of Arizona, Nevada, and California, with programs and projects spanning more than 202,000 square miles throughout the western United States and focusing on approximately 688 river miles of the Lower Colorado River system.
In a typical year, Bureau of Reclamation facilities within the Lower Colorado Basin deliver approximately 7.5 million acre-feet of water to Arizona, California, and Nevada, and an additional 1.5 million acre-feet to Mexico. This water supply supports irrigation of more than 2.5 million acres and provides essential domestic water resources to more than 23 million people.
The Lower Colorado Basin also plays a critical role in implementing the Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program (LCR MSCP), a 50-year partnership between federal and non-federal stakeholders established to balance the use of Lower Colorado River water resources with the conservation of native species and their habitats in compliance with the Endangered Species Act.
As part of its responsibilities, the Lower Colorado Basin maintains the integrity and operational reliability of critical water conveyance infrastructure, including irrigation canals, siphons, inlets and diversions, gates, and canal linings.
Under this Multiple Award IDIQ contract, Site Work Solutions provides the personnel, equipment, tools, materials, supervision, and related services necessary to perform canal construction, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement activities in accordance with individual task orders.
Work includes, but is not limited to, the removal and proper disposal of existing concrete, gates, gate frames, and other debris; repair and preparation of canal and pipeline subgrades, including compaction to a minimum of 90 percent; installation of new concrete canal lining; construction and modification of water conveyance piping systems; replacement of gates and field ports within the canal system; and earthwork required to prepare base and sub-base materials.
Site Work Solutions also performs associated improvements and additional facility work as required under individual task orders, supporting the continued reliability, safety, and operational performance of critical water conveyance infrastructure throughout the Lower Colorado Basin.
